Lucky Black Cat

This unused postcard is in incredibly good condition considering it is almost 100 years old. The cat was meant to bring good luck for the ‘Poilus’ (The *hairy ones), the French soldiers. This is strange because in France a black cat is considered unlucky. I can only think that the card was produced more for the allied troops. Hence the flags in the background.

*‘Hairy’ as in real men have hair on their chests.

Dear Anji - what a beautiful post card! I do have a few that I collect, but I don't think they're very old. Thanks for visiting my blog. I don't really understand how "expose your blog" works. Shoot me an email if you have time. Thanks! Have a great Sunday!

Elisa: Thank you. Postcards don't have to be old, we sell cards from the 1990s too. If you surf on EYB! you earn credits which buy you visitors to your blog. it's quite simple. just surf and the machine does the rest!

Elisa,

I think she found your blog, because I had, I know, illegally probably, your blog in my rotation list so others would see it, because I like it. :) (I should have emailed you to get your permission, sorry!)

Do come and check us out though! You will get some great readers and comments on your blog! ;)

Hey Don, no problem. It's a public blog, so I don't mind if people see it. I checked out Expose Your Blog. I usually just read my blogs through reader and it seems to be working for me. I don't really intend to ever have my blog be a business or anything, so I think a small audience of online "friends" is fine. =)

Black cats are considered unlucky in the US, so I don't know that it was aimed at the Allied troops, either. But I LOVE the "hairy men" reference!

I follow you on ExposeYourBlog.

We always had nice cats and they would always be stolen. Then we got black cats and no one touched them.
They lived to 18 years, a full life, in freedom. What a great life they had.So black cats are lucky lol
